India delivers a planeload of goods to Gaza's war-torn region, including medical supplies and disaster relief

32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and about 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies have been sent to the Gaza-based Palestinians.

In the midst of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, India on Sunday dispatched humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip's beleaguered Palestinian population. 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies and about 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies have been shipped to Palestine and will go via Egypt.

The spokeswoman for the External Affairs Ministry, Arindam Bagchi, said on X (formerly Twitter), "An IAF C-17 flight carrying nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine departs for El-Arish airport in Egypt."

Through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, the commodities will be delivered to Palestine.

According to Bagchi, the humanitarian assistance consists of "vital medical supplies, surgical equipment, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary supplies, water purification tablets, among other essential items."

Three days after speaking with Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India's assistance to Palestine. PM Modi said that India will keep delivering help to the Palestinians during their talk on Thursday. Additionally, he expressed his sorrow at the deaths of civilians in the Gaza Strip as a result of the hospital bombing.

"Stood together in expressing our serious worry about the bloodshed, terrorism, and worsening security situation in the area. After chatting with Abbas, PM Modi reaffirmed India's long-standing, principled stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

More than 5,000 people have died on both sides of the violent conflict between Israel and Hamas, which started on October 7 when the Palestinian terrorist organization launched an unexpected and unprecedented strike. It has also sparked a severe humanitarian catastrophe in the Middle East. Hamas launched a horrific offensive in which the organization infiltrated southern Israeli cities via land and killed citizens on the streets and in their homes, drawing harsh rebukes from people all over the world and international leaders. 'Operation Iron Swords', Israel's counteroffensive to destroy Hamas operational bases in Gaza, has wreaked havoc on the area, forcing residents to evacuate their homes, cutting off access to basic supplies, and leaving hospitals barely operating.

Leaders from across the globe have strongly condemned a recent explosion at a hospital in Gaza that purportedly killed hundreds of lives. Israel has denied Hamas's assertion that Israeli rocket attacks were to blame for the catastrophe.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously said that his nation will "crush and destroy" Hamas, and in the meanwhile, Israel is getting ready for a coordinated ground attack in Gaza to confront Hamas.
