IND against NZ, World Cup 2023: India's batting issues worsen as a result of Surya's injury concern and Ishan's bee sting

Injuries have been a worry for India before of their important match against New Zealand. Today at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala, India and New Zealand, the runners-up from the last tournament, will face off.

The only other two batsmen in the Indian lineup, Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, withdrew from Saturday's practice session due to illness, adding to the management of the Indian team's already challenging situation with the injury to irreplaceable pace bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Virat Kohli took over to bowl Pandya's first over against Bangladesh after he suffered a left ankle injury and was forced to leave the field. Pandya is now being observed by the BCCI medical staff at the National Cricket Academy after being subsequently disqualified from the New Zealand ODI.

SKY, who was expected to replace Pandya in the Indian XI against New Zealand on Sunday, was reportedly struck on the wrist during the throwdown with Raghvendra and forced to leave the nets in discomfort.

The good news for Indian fans is that SKY won't be sent for a precautionary X-ray since he is considered to be alright, despite being spotted applying an ice pack after the accident.

Along with Surya, Ishan Kishan was allegedly stung by a honeybee on Saturday, forcing him to leave the nets early.

What starting lineup will India choose when they face New Zealand?

With Ravindra Jadeja serving as the all-rounder and Shardul Thakur offering some batting assistance, the Indian team management is expected to favor a lineup of seven batsmen and four bowlers. Surya Kumar Yadav may receive the nod to play against New Zealand instead of left-hander Ishan Kishan, according to coach Rahul Dravid. Mohammed Shami, a pacer, may possibly compete in his first game of the competition today.

"Well, having Ishan is good. And as you correctly pointed out, he has been performing well. He uses his left hand. Yet again, like we witnessed against Australia, Surya has also been in excellent form. played a few outstanding innings. As we all know, an excellent player against spin. Any kind of spin, including off-spin and left arm spin, is acceptable.
