In the midst of the Ukraine War, Yevgeny Prigozhin's 25-year-old son will inherit Russia's Wagner

A significant US think tank said, using a well-known Telegram channel connected to the Wagner gang, that Yevgeny Prigozhin's son has assumed "command" of the Russian Wagner organization. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Pavel Prigozhin, 25, is speaking with Rosgvardia, the Russian National Guard, about Wagner resuming the Ukraine War.

The primary fighting units of the mercenary force are dispersed across Belarus, the Central African Republic, Libya, and Mali, but since Yevgeny Prigozhin's passing in an airplane accident in August, there hasn't been a distinct unifying head.

This comes after some Wagner Group members objected to Vladimir Putin embracing Andrey Troshev, a current Ministry of Defense (MoD) official and a former Wagner Group commander.

Some Wagner employees are interested in uniting behind a Prigozhin-linked alternative to the Troshev- and Kremlin-aligned Troshev, according to the ISW.

The Wagner mercenary group's head, Yevgeny Prigozhin, attempted to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin in a coup in June. Alongside Russia's official army, Wagner, his private military group, fought in Ukraine. The Kremlin declared that following the brief coup, he would be exiled to Belarus and that his fighters would either retire, follow him there, or enlist in the Russian military.

Yevgeny Prigozhin was killed in an aircraft accident while traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Three crew members were among the 10 passengers who perished in the disaster, according to the emergency ministry of Russia.
