 In Jammu's Arnia, two BSF jawans are wounded as Pakistani gunfire lasts till three in the morning


According to officials, two non-fatal wounds were caused by Pakistan Rangers using heavy machine guns and firing mortars.


Numerous civilians in Jammu were forced to abandon their houses for safety on the international border as a result of heavy firing by Pakistan throughout the night on Thursday, injuring two BSF jawans and a lady.


Residents were encouraged to come home on Friday when officials said that there had not been any gunfire throughout the day, but tensions still exist.


The BSF reports that on Thursday night, Pakistan Rangers opened fire without warning on Indian installations and residential areas near the international boundary. The gunfire continued until three in the morning, almost seven hours.


According to officials, two non-fatal wounds were caused by Pakistan Rangers using heavy machine guns and mortars. Numerous homes sustained damage. A lady was hurt when some of the rounds fell in the village of Arnia, some kilometers inside the international boundary.


In order to maintain the safety and security of the border and its inhabitants, the BSF "continues to closely monitor the developments after assessing the situation as well as remains alert to respond as necessary," according to a BSF statement.


Since the two nations had decided to extend the ceasefire in February 2021, this was the most severe breach of the truce.


Before Thursday night's exchange, two consecutive breaches earlier in the week had wounded two BSF soldiers and one army man.


The bloodiest escalation of border violence since the two sides' 2003 cease-fire occurred in the year 2020. 22 civilians and 24 members of the security forces lost their lives as a consequence of more than 5,000 ceasefire breaches throughout the year, but in 2021 the truce was extended, providing a significant reprieve for those living along the border.


The wounded lady was recognized by the police as Rajni Devi from Arnia. Shelling caused BSF constable Basva Raj to get minor splinter injuries to both hands.

"The settlement of Bhulechak was hit by five shells. One Pawan Kumar's home was struck, but fortunately, his family survived. Because of the widespread dread, people are gravitating toward the safe zones.
