In accordance with the Reserve Bank of India's holiday schedule, banks will be closed for 18 days in October. Regular holidays like the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays are included in this list. However, according to the RBI's calendar, 11 holidays are either celebratory or gazetted.

Additionally, certain jurisdictions will have a lengthy bank weekend during which banks will be closed for up to four days. Due to the fact that October 1 was a Sunday holiday and Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on October 2 in India, the long bank weekend started at the beginning of this month. 

Due to the Dussehra holiday, the majority of banks will be closed on October 24 (with the exception of Hyderabad and Imphal).

- October 18: Kati Bihu (Kolkata, Imphal, and Guwahati)

- Durga Puja on October 21 (Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkjata)

Dusshera, Ayudha Pooja, Durga Puja, and Vijaya Dasami are celebrated on October 23 in Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Thiruvananthapuram.

- October 24: Dusshera/Dussehra/Durga Puja (all of India, except Hyderabad and Imphal)

- October 25: Gangtok's Durga Puja

- Durga Puja on October 26 (Gangtok, Jammu, Srinagar)

- October 27: Gangtok's Durga Puja

Kolkata's Lakshmi Puja is on October 28.
