ICC CWC 2023: Virat Kohli, Devon Conway, and Rachin Ravindra join exclusive group of World Cup centurions making debuts

New Zealand's Devon Conway made his ODI debut on September 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and that too during the opening game of the ICC World Cup 2023 against the current World Cup Champions England. Conway scored a century (152*) in the match.

This made him the 16th batter overall and the fourth New Zealander to score a century on their World Cup debut. In just 83 deliveries, he scored the century, hitting 13 fours and two sixes.

Along with Conway, Rachin Ravindra (123*), another member of the team, also hit a century in 82 balls on his World Cup debut, becoming the 17th person overall and the fifth Kiwi to do so.

According to statistics on World Cup centuries made on their first appearance, Conway and Ravindra have a lot in common with legends like Andy Flower of Zimbabwe, Nathan Astle of New Zealand, Gary Kirsten of South Africa, Scott Styris of New Zealand, Andrew Symonds of Australia, Virat Kohli of India, David Miller of South Africa, and Aaron Finch of Australia.

New Zealand upset the reigning champions by 9 wickets after chasing down a 283-run mark in just 36.2 overs, all thanks to centuries from Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.

This time, the Kiwis, who were named the first runners-up in the 2019 ICC World Cup, got off to an exhilarating start with the bat.
