Here's why an Indian lady married a Facebook buddy in Pakistan so she could go back home

After receiving approval from the Pakistani authorities, Anju, an Indian mother of two who had traveled to a rural town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to marry her Facebook buddy, is scheduled to return to her home country, her husband Nasrullah told news agency PTI.

Anju's visa was renewed by one year by Pakistan earlier in August after she crossed the border to wed her Facebook acquaintance. After converting to Islam on July 25, Anju married her friend Nasrullah, 29, and is now known as Fatima.

"We have already filed for and are awaiting the NOC (No-Objection Certificate) from the Interior Ministry in Islamabad. The Pakistani spouse of Anju told PTI that the NOC procedure is a little drawn out and requires time to finish. Anju will go to India as soon as the paperwork for entry and exit at the Wagah Border crossing is finished, he said.

In addition, he informed the agency that Fatima will see her kids and then return to Pakistan. "She will certainly come back as Pakistan is her residence now," he said.

Anju, also known as Fatima, was previously wed to Rajasthani Arvind. The couple has a 15-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. Anju was described by Nasrullah as "mentally disturbed as well as badly missing" her two children last month.

Anju wed her 29-year-old friend Nasrullah on July 25. Nasrullah lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Upper Dir area. In 2019, they connected on Facebook. Anju had crossed the Wagah-Attari border lawfully from India to reach Pakistan.

The events surrounding Anju's trip to Pakistan, however, are reminiscent to the story of Seema Ghulam Haider, a mother of four from Pakistan who entered India illegally in 2019 to live with Sachin Meena, an Indian player she had become friends with on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. But unlike Anju, Seema had entered Pakistan illegally.
