Hardik Pandya exits the field against Bangladesh after hurting his ankle
All-rounder Hardik Pandya departed the field after hurting his ankle while delivering his first over here on Thursday, giving India an early loss in their World Cup match against Bangladesh.
The incident happened on the third delivery of the ninth over when Pandya used his right foot on the followthrough to block Litton Das' straight drive from Bangladesh.
Pandya, an all-rounder, stumbled and fell on the ground as the ball went below him, twisting his ankle in the process.
Hardik Pandya stumbled towards his bowling mark after having his right ankle bandaged, which caused a significant delay. Hardik Pandya felt agony the instant he stood up.
Pandya left the field at this point, and Suryakumar Yadav took his place as the replacement fielder.
However, Virat Kohli rolled his arm over to finish the over, allowing only two runs to be scored, much to the delight of the audience.
Bangladesh, who decided to bat, made a great comeback from a shaky beginning and surged to 63 for no loss after 10 overs.
