Former London mobster and actor Dave Courtney passes away at age 64.

Dave Courtney, a 64-year-old actor and former London mobster, has passed away.

Early on Sunday morning, Mr. Courtney, who claimed to be a friend of the infamous Kray brothers, was discovered dead in his Chestnut Rise, Plumstead, residence.

Mr. Courtney "took his own life" according to a statement on his Instagram account that announced his passing.

It read: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Walsh at the age of 64."

According to rumors, Vinnie Jones's role in Guy Ritchie's gangster movie Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels was modeled after Mr. Courtney.

He gave up a life of crime to pursue a career as a novelist and actor, releasing six novels and appearing in the movie Hell To Pay.

Mr. Courtney admitted to BBC London last year that he may have been a little impolite in his younger years.

"The term "gangster" has a long history. Gangsters are a romanticized historical character, similar to knights in shining armor, cowboys, pirates, and gangsters.

"Today definitely is not the time to make an effort to be a gangster... your goal is to beat technology and you can't do that."

According to Mr. Courtney, he had a painting featuring the Kray brothers, Lenny McLean, Joey Pyle, Charlie Richardson, Ronnie Biggs, John Gotti, Roy Shaw, Freddie Foreman, Howard Marks, and Al Capone painted on the exterior of his home.

"And I'm stuck right in the middle of it, me and a bunch of mates," added the man.
