According to ANI, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, stated on Friday that projects totaling 154.25 crore have been authorized by the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CIRF) for the Himachal Pradesh regions of Una and Kangra. 


With this sanction, two bridges across the Swan River will be built for a total of 50.60 crore, while Pong Dam on the Beas River will be built for a total of 103.65 crore, according to Gadkari. 


He pointed out that recent natural catastrophes have had an impact on Himachal Pradesh, and he had a thorough conversation on the need for new infrastructure projects in the situation in the field with JP Nadda, the head of the BJP at the national level, and Anurag Thakur, the union's minister of sports. 




The Himachal Pradesh Assembly demanded that the Union government designate the damage brought on by recent severe rains in the state a "national disaster" earlier in September, according to ANI. 


Himachal Pradesh has had many landslides and cloudbursts as a result of the constant rain. Several highways and bridges in the state have also been damaged by the monsoon fury.


Officials said that so far this monsoon season, rain-related disasters had cost Himachal Pradesh a total of $12,000 crore.


According to ANI, Gadkari promised that the federal government will provide the afflicted with all available assistance during his visit to the disaster-stricken Himachal Pradesh. 


"There has been unheard of harm to the roads, bridges, and privately owned land due to flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts created by heavy rains," he had stated, adding that the Union Government would release 400 crore through the CIRF so that repair and restoration works could be carried out on a war footing.


According to him, the NHAI would also pay for the up to one kilometer long link roads that run alongside National Highways in apple belts.
