Dearness Allowance Increase by the Railway Board: The Railway Board has announced an increase in dearness allowance while offering gifts to thousands of its workers on the occasions of Dussehra (Dussehra 2023) and Diwali (Diwali 2023). Following this, it rose to 46 percent from 42 percent. These prices are valid as of July 1, 2023. The General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of All India Railways and Production Units have determined that the DA would now be enhanced from 42 percent to 46 percent (Railway Board DA Hike) in accordance with the notice issued by the Railway Board on October 23, 2023.


When will you get a pay raise?


The Railway Board further said in its announcement that the workers will get the arrears from July 2023 to the present. This back pay will be applied to the next month's paycheck. According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of the All India Railwaymen's Federation, the workers' DA raise has not been granted since July 2023. It was the workers' right to get this in this scenario. The rights of the workers are now being recognized.


The railway staff unions have reportedly praised the Railway Board's decision as reported by PTI news. The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen's general secretary, M. Raghavaiah, said after the decision that the inflation rate was the sole factor considered. The goal of this decision is to ensure that the workers are not negatively impacted by inflation.


Bonus for Diwali also announced


The Central Government had given the central workers a present of the Diwali Bonus prior to the Railway Board's decision to boost DA. For Group C and non-gadget Group B officials, a Diwali bonus had been offered by the national government. The maximum amount of this incentive has been set by the national government at Rs 7,000. For this incentive, the government has sanctioned Rs 15,000 crore.
