Biden requests that Israel postpone its attack of Gaza if Hamas releases two American detainees

On Friday, the terrorists freed two Americans who had been held prisoner by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and they hinted that further Americans would follow. An Israeli representative met Judith Tai Raanan and her adolescent daughter Natalie Shoshana Raanan at the Gaza border and took them to a military camp in central Israel.

The release was also confirmed by US Vice President Joe Biden, who reaffirmed that his country will completely assist the two in their healing and rehabilitation processes.

The president said in a statement that "today, we have secured the release of two People taken hostage by Hamas during the horrific terrorist offensive against Israel on October 7."

I'm thrilled that they will soon be reunited with their family, who have been terrified for the last 14 days. Our fellow citizens have gone through a horrific situation. We should all respect these people's privacy at this time, he added, adding that they and their family will have the full support of the US government while they recovered and healed.

The first of more than 200 captives freed by Gaza's leadership was the Raanan couple. In an indication that other prisoner releases may follow, Hamas said it was collaborating with Qatar and Egypt to release its "civilian" detainees.

According to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the two Americans are safe in Israel with the Israeli government.

We are eager to be able to rejoin them with their loved ones, but they will get whatever care and help they need over the course of the next several hours. Their release is appreciated. We share in the relief that their friends, family, and loved ones are experiencing, but ten more Americans are still missing in action in this battle, Blinken added.

“We know that some of prisoners are being held hostage by Hamas, as are an estimated 200 other hostages in Gaza. They come from many different countries and include men, women, young boys, young girls, and old individuals. They should all be freed, each and every one of them. The president has made it clear that he would take all necessary steps to achieve the release of every captive from the very first moments of this crisis, Blinken added.

Earth invasion

The danger to civilian captives has been a significant obstacle for the Israeli military as it has been preparing for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas. The latest indication of a future ground assault of Gaza that might cause regional unrest was Israel's evacuation of a small town close to the Lebanese border. Biden said "yes" when asked by a reporter on Friday whether Israel should postpone a future ground assault of Gaza until additional captives may escape.

number of fatalities

Israel has seen more than 1,400 fatalities, the majority of which occurred during the first strike on October 7 when Hamas fighters seized the country. According to the Gaza Health Ministry administered by Hamas, 4,137 Palestinians have already died and more than 13,000 have been injured as a result of Israel's retaliation attacks.
