 As light rain falls in Delhi, the city's temperature drops, and further showers are expected today


Late on Monday night, a few areas of the capital had light rain, which caused the temperature to drop by six degrees. The city's temperature plummeted from 29 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius over the previous 24 hours. Parts of Noida, Indirapuram, south, and east Delhi had rain along with thunder and lightning.


There were light to moderate rainstorms in several areas, such as Rafi Marg and Moti Bagh, which caused some minor traffic congestion. With drivers trying to get to their destinations and getting in each other's ways, traffic on several key routes flowed slowly.




The meteorological service has predicted a mostly cloudy sky with a chance of light rain or thundershowers for Tuesday. Around 31 and 20 degrees Celsius are predicted for the highest and minimum temperatures, respectively.


Thunderstorms and lightning have been anticipated for isolated locations, according to the Regional Met Center in New Delhi. According to the most recent information from RWFC Delhi, over the next two hours, there will be thunderstorms with light to moderate rain over and near Tundla, Agra, Firozabad (U.P.), Chandpur, Sambhal, Billari, Milak, Chandausi, and Bahajoi (U.P.).


RWFC had earlier projected mild to moderate rain with isolated areas of heavy rain in and around Delhi and the NCR.


According to a post on X by the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC), "Thunderstorm with light to moderate brightness rain with heavy intensity rain over remote regions and gusty winds with speed of 30-50 Km/h could happen over and adjoining areas of entirety Delhi and NCR including Ghaziabad, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, as well as Manesar, among others, during next 2 hours."


IMD had earlier on Monday projected mild to moderate rain for the next two days in a number of locations across the nation's northeast. While Kerala and Tamil Nadu may get heavy to extremely heavy rains, according to the forecast service.


In the meantime, the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu experienced significant rains on Monday morning. Dindigul Town reportedly received 35 mm of rain, compared to 30 mm at Kodaikanal (Rose Garden), according to the IMD. 11.5 mm of rain fell in Kamatchipurm, and 43.6 mm of rain fell in Briyant Park in Kodaikanal.


According to the meteorological agency, Tamil Nadu's northeast monsoon is predicted to start on October 18. According to weather experts, this year's monsoon will be below average.
