After the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, airfares decreased by over 30%: report

The demand for Vande Bharat trains is now being monitored by Indian Railways based on the gender and age of the passengers. The information includes the number of passengers going on the four Vande Bharat routes, three of which connect Mumbai with Shirdi, Goa, and Solapur.

For the first time, the Central Railway compiled statistics that showed the majority of passengers going on the Vande Bharat Express out of Mumbai were between the ages of 15 and 30 and 31 to 45.

Between September 15 and October 13, 85,600 men, 57,838 women, and 26 transgender people rode aboard Vande Bharat Express trains, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

The railways gathered this information in an attempt to promote Vande Bharat trains and boost traffic. The most current occupancy statistics for September ranged from 77% to 101%.

According to Shivraj Manaspure, chief PRO of Central Railway, who was cited by HT, "Children (1-14 years old) made up about 5% of travellers on average throughout this time, although transgender people made up 4.5% among all Vande Bharat passengers."

Manaspure continued: "According to estimates from the sector, there has been a substantial fall of 10–20% in air traffic and a reduction of 20–30% in airfare following the launch of the Vande Bharat train.

According to Paresh Rawal, Public Policy Analyst (Mobility and Transportation), this macro data would be essential in helping the railways generate non-fare box income.

"The industry will have a good understanding of the audience thanks to this data. Additionally, this information will support Indian Railways in planning future enhancements to their services, cuisine, and other facilities, according to Rawal.

According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, Kashmir would soon have access to the Vande Bharat express on the Jammu-Srinagar route. He continued by saying that the train has a special design that makes it operate well in such conditions of height and temperature.
