Actors Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Hina Khan are asking the Enforcement Directorate for one week in the Mahadev betting case

The performers have requested one week to respond to the central investigative agency, according to News18 on October 6, a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) called them in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.

According to information, Huma and Hina have claimed personal reasons, while Kapil Sharma has notified the investigating agency about his overseas shoot because of which he would be unable to present on Friday.

All three were previously called to appear in court on October 5 in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The online betting platform came under fire in February of this year after an extravagant $200 million wedding in the United Arab Emirates that included star performances.

The Mahadev Online Book Betting app, according to officials, is a covert syndicate that allowed illicit betting websites to sign up new customers, generate user IDs, and launder money via a complex network of benami bank accounts. It is believed that the business Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppalis promoted operated out of Dubai. In the meanwhile, prominent government officials received payments called "protection money."

In connection with the case, the ED carried out searches at 39 locations and confiscated illicit assets totaling 417 crore. Additionally, the suspects were the subject of non-bailable warrants issued by a PMLA special court in Raipur.

Ranbir Kapoor and other famous people from the movie and sports sectors are reportedly also thought to have participated in promotional operations for the Mahadev betting app, according to an ANI report citing sources.

The primary participants engaged in the money laundering schemes have been effectively identified, according to prior statements from the Enforcement Directorate. Following searches in Chhattisgarh, four persons, including the top liaison of the betting syndicate, were detained last month.
