8 of India's top 10 polluted cities are in Uttar Pradesh, and the air quality index is at record highs

India is dealing with a serious air pollution issue, with disturbingly high pollution levels in major cities.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), a real-time pollution monitoring tool in India, eight of the top ten most polluted cities in the nation on Saturday are located in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi is now at the top of the list with an AQI of 362, followed closely by Meerut at 358 and Hapur at 344. With AQI values of 326, 320, and 319, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr, and Faridabad are similarly affected by the very poor air quality.

With AQI values of 316 and 274, the National Capital Region, which encompasses Noida and Ghaziabad, is severely impacted. With an AQI of 305, Allahabad, also in Uttar Pradesh, is the tenth most polluted city in the world.

This severe circumstance emphasizes the urgent need for efficient actions to reduce air pollution and safeguard public health in these areas.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) announced that around 9 am, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was 219. The national capital's highest temperature is likely to reach 32 degrees Celsius, and the meteorological authority has forecast mostly clear sky throughout the day.

The Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB's) data allowed for the following categorization of the Air Quality Index (AQI): A score between 0 and 50 is considered "good," while a score between 51 and 100 is considered "satisfactory." 101 to 200 is referred to as "moderate," while 201 to 300 is referred to as "poor." A reading of 301 to 400 is considered "very poor," while 401 to 500 is considered "severe."
