HRA for Central Employees A hike For those who work at Central, there is more good news. Following the Diwali bonus and dearness allowance, workers may get a larger present. According to reports, the Modi administration at the Center may raise the House Rent Allowance after raising the dearness allowance from 42 to 46 percent starting on July 1, 2023. Possible increases to the allowance for housing rent

As per media sources, the Modi administration has the authority to modify the home rent allowance subsequent to the implementation of the dearness allowance. It's possible that in the next year, HRA may rise by 3%. Following this, the maximum HRA will rise to 30% from the current rate of 27%. However, since the housing rent allowance for workers is adjusted based on DA, this will only occur when DA surpasses 50%. It is projected that the government would decide on this matter before to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The Finance Department memorandum states that HRA will increase to 30%, 20%, and 10% if DA surpasses 50%. The wage might go up by more than 20,000 as a result.

Three types of HRA

Cities having a population of more than 50 lakh are classified as "X" in this. Cities falling under the 'Y' category have a population of above 5 lakh. Cities in the "Z" category have less than 500,000 residents. For all three groups, the minimum HRA will be Rs. 5400, Rs. 3600, and Rs. 1800. At the moment, workers in the X group get 27% of their base pay, those in the Y category receive 18% to 20%, and rent allowance is provided.

The dearness allowance went risen to 46% and might go up to 50% by 2024.

This increase will take effect on July 1, 2023. 48.67 lakh workers and 67.95 lakh retirees would gain from this. The likelihood of a rise in the House Rent Allowance has also increased; it is anticipated that the HRA may be modified shortly after it was raised in July of 2021.
