 What would happen if Chief Minister Hemant Soren does not show up on his third summons from ED?

Ranchi Land fraud: In the Ranchi land fraud case, the ED has called Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren three times. The ED has not formally verified this, though. Nishikant Dubey, a member of the BJP, made this statement in one of his tweets. He will be questioned by ED on September 9.

Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, has received a third summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He will now be interrogated in Ranchi's land scam case on September 9. 

It has not yet received formal confirmation from ED, though. Nishikant Dubey, a BJP lawmaker, made this observation in a tweet.

The ED's challenge from CM Soren

Notably, Hemant Soren has been summoned for interrogation on September 9 through a third summons to the Chief Minister.

He received two calls: one on August 14 and the other on August 24. He wrote the ED to let them know that he was going to the Supreme Court to contest the ED's power.

He won't do anything until the judge gives the go-ahead. However, the Supreme Court has not yet provided a date, and the ED has not yet received any notification from the court.

Additionally, ED has objected to his petition in a caveat. The third summons has been delivered by ED since the Supreme Court's notification was not received.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren that the ED summons be withdrawn, claiming it was unlawful and motivated by malice. He claimed that the fact that the ED has summoned him does not surprise him in the least. Due to the fact that he is not a member of the party in charge at the Centre, such action is being taken against him.

What happens next in this?

The ED may call the Chief Minister a fourth or fifth time if he refuses to appear even on the first summons. The Chief Minister has the option of being sued by ED for failing to attend on the third summons.

The Chief Minister is not helping with the probe, ED will inform the court. If the defendant is still absent even after the court issues a bailable warrant, a non-bailable warrant may also be issued.

Even after that, he has the right to pursue action for attachment, seizure, etc. if he does not show up. ED now using this procedure in Dahu Yadav's case.
