 Ranchi Land Scam: ED's remand motion will be considered today after Vishnu Agarwal was jailed


Vishnu Agarwal, the director of Nucleus Mall, engaged in extensive fraud in the sale and acquisition of land with the assistance of the previous Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan. Vishnu Agarwal, who had been detained a day earlier, was produced in the special ED court as part of the money laundering probe associated with this. From there, he was transported in judicial custody to Birsa Munda Central Jail in Hotwar, Ranchi.




Jharkhand News: Ranchi Land Scam Vishnu Aggarwal, the owner of Nucleus Mall, who had been detained a day earlier, was taken to the special ED court on Tuesday by the ED, which is looking into the Ranchi land scandal under the money laundering statute. Vishnu Agarwal has been placed in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Hotwar, Ranchi, under the directions of the special court.


Since Vishnu Agarwal and Chhavi Ranjan collaborated on a significant amount of forgery, ED has asked the court for permission to place Vishnu Aggarwal in custody for a period of seven days. On Wednesday, the remand request of ED will be heard.


The ED claims that Vishnu Agarwal and former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan committed fraud in the purchase and sale of land in its remand application.


They both used to chat on WhatsApp and Facetime. Chhavi Ranjan remains behind bars. In the course of the investigation, ED also learned that Vishnu Aggarwal purposefully defrauded buyers and sellers of land.

Regarding the acquisition and sale of one acre of land located in plots Khata No. 93, 543, 544, 546, and 547, totaling 9.30 acres and located in Pugdu Mauza of Namkum Circle.


5.883 acres in Sirmtoli's Ward No. 6 on MS Plot Nos. 908, 851 and 910.

Chhavi Ranjan had aided in getting around the injunction.

Chhavi Ranjan, the Ranchi deputy commissioner at the time, disregarded the department's directive in order to Vishnu Agarwal's advantage. Additionally, he disregarded the directives of the Revenue and property Registration Department about the SIT inquiry and its evaluation for 9.30 acres of Khasmahal property in Pugadu Mauza of Namkum Circle in the vicinity of the Jagannathpur police station. Along with the ED, related papers are also available.


5.883 acres of army land in MS plot numbers 908, 851 and 910, which are located in ward number six close to Sirmtoli Chowk, have the proof of barely 3 crores for the property's 15 crore value.


With the assistance of Chhavi Ranjan, Vishnu Aggarwal fraudulently acquired and sold this property while also engaging in forgeries.


On July 5, 2022, Chhavi Ranjan issued an order in favour of Vishnu Agarwal. If land purchase had occurred, he had requested specific information on the subject property from the District Archives and the then-land acquisition officer. Additionally, the ED has documents pertaining to this.


Although the land's deed states that it cost Rs 15 crore to purchase, only the payment of Rs 3 crore has been made public. A cheque payment of Rs 12 crore is mentioned.


On February 6, 2018, Vishnu Aggarwal sent Mahua Mitra Rs 1.5 crore via NEFT; Sanjay Ghosh received Rs 1.5 crore via NEFT; Mahua Mitra received Rs 5 crore via cheque; Sanjay Ghosh received Rs 5 crore via cheque; and Rs 15 lakh was paid as tax.


As a result, Rs 15 crore in total was spent on the mentioned land. Mahua Mitra received Rs. 1.5 crore from Anushree Agarwal's account out of a total of Rs. 15 crore, while Sanjay Ghosh received Rs. 1.5 crore from Vishnu Agarwal's account.


Mahua Mitra and Sanjay Ghosh received payments totaling five crores, 92 lakhs, and 50,000, respectively.
