Apple AirPods will be produced in India at the Foxconn facility in Hyderabad
The Foxconn plant in Hyderabad will produce AirPods. By December, the plant is anticipated to start mass production.
Apple, the creator of the iPhone, will reportedly begin producing its wireless earbuds, AirPods, at Foxconn's facility in Hyderabad. A $400 million investment has been authorised by Foxconn for the Hyderabad factory, which is scheduled to start mass production in December 2024.
"AirPods would be made at the Foxconn facilities in Hyderabad. By December, mass production is anticipated to start at the site, a source told PTI.
One additional individual who is aware of the development reaffirmed the information. Apple and Foxconn did not respond to emails addressed to them.
After the iPhone, AirPods will be the second product category produced in India. Globally, the TWS (true wireless stereo) market is led by Apple's AirPods. According to research company Canalys, it held a 36% market share in the quarter ending in December 2022, leading the worldwide TWS market.
With a 7.5% market share, Samsung came in second to Apple, followed by Xiaomi with a 4.4% share, Boat with a 4% share, and Oppo with a 3% share. This year, Xiaomi began producing its TWS in India at the Noida facility of Optiemus Electronics.
