Farmers typically receive between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh from an acre of crop, and after paying for the necessary inputs, they may comfortably make Rs 2 lakh. The cultivation of chillies differs from the conventional wheat and paddy crops that farmers are presently using.

The farmers allege that they purchase the '8307' variety seed created by United Genetics Company, which is exclusively sold by one dealer, according to the Indian Express story. Due to their monopoly, they must make significant annual payments for this type. This year's price for the seed was Rs 40,000 per kg, up from previous year's price of Rs 34,000 per kg. Currently, this cost is set at Rs 33,200 per kilogramme. The farmers had just made a plea to the government in this respect.

The first harvest begins in the second week of May if the farmer needs to sell red chilies (not dried). 7-8 pickings of green chiles are made between April and August.
