Why is Sir Gangaram recognised in Pakistan even now, and why is his name spoken there every day?
Such a gentleman was Sir Gangaram, whose name lives on both in Pakistan and India. Many patients have received treatment in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, which was erected in Lahore and Delhi. Hailey College was in need of a facility to educate ladies when he was at the end of his life. Sir Ganga Ram emphasised the value of women's education. As soon as he learned, he contributed everything. gave the college his house. He contributed greatly to Punjab's irrigation system. commenced a large-scale hydropower project.

In the Hindu community of the time, he also contributed significantly to the widows. He attempted to propose a resolution allowing widow remarriage in 1917 at a Hindu religious gathering in the Punjabi city of Ambala. despite being unsuccessful. The Widow Marriage Association was then founded by him using his two thousand rupees, which at the time was a significant sum of money.
At a cost of 2.5 lakh rupees, Ganga Ram constructed a house for Hindu widows with the government's approval in 1921, where plans were put in place to teach these ladies how to make a living. In it, two schools and a hostel were built.
Here, women received training in handicrafts as well as preparation that enabled them to teach others. Additionally, Ganga Ram provided funding for the Lady Maynard Industrial School, which was established for Sikh and Hindu women who were struggling financially.

It served as a sort of refuge for the elderly and those with disabilities.

In London, Ganga Ram passed away on July0, 1927. His remains were returned to India. A piece was launched into the Ganges. On the banks of the Ravi river in Lahore, the remainder were interred in a mausoleum.
