Mandhata, king of Suryavanshi and their dad of Ambareesh and Muchukund, was a great devotee of God who pleased Lord Shankar by engaging in arduous penance here. This mountain's name was changed to Mandhata Parvat in honour of that outstanding guy. Omkareshwar Linga is a naturally occurring Shivling that was not carved, sculptured, or created by a human being. The Narmada River is supposed to be the source of salvation and home to 33 crore deities.


The 12 Jyotirlingas also comprise the revered Jyotirlinga of Omkareshwar. According to the Vedas, a pilgrim's trip is not considered complete until they visit Omkareshwar and offer water from the Narmada and other nearby rivers.
