The 25 illustrious years of Kargil Day will come to an end on Wednesday, July 26. On this occasion, we honour the sacrifice of Amar Shaheed Vidyanand Singh, who faced the enemy head-on despite taking six bullets to the chest. On June 9th, he had acquired Veergati. He was assigned to the Bihar Regiment's first battalion.




Hazaribagh. On June 9, Amar Shaheed Vidyanand Singh, who suffered six bullet wounds in his chest and had unwavering fortitude, earned Veergati. He was assigned to the Bihar Regiment's first battalion. The peak of Batalik sector, which is positioned at a height of 17000 feet on the border with Drass of Kargil, was entrusted to Martyr's battalion to retake.


The roadway that passed through this mountain, which was crucial to the Drass and Batalik areas, was being fired upon by the nation's adversaries, making it hard to get to equal soldiers and logistical support. In terms of strategy, the capture of this peak was crucial. Five were given this assignment, and Vidyanand Singh's battalion began ascending on June 6 and 7, 1999.


In a hand-to-hand battle to take the bunker on the night of 9, Vidyanand Singh, who had just scaled the hill, was shot many times. In the process of murdering the terrorists, many members of Vidyanand Singh's battalion lost their lives. On his chest, there were also more than six gunshot holes. Nevertheless, the platoon had managed to seize the peak. He had already become a martyr by the time aid arrived.

Vidyanand Singh, a Kargil hero who received honours for valiantly battling Naga insurgents, was assigned to Nagaland. In 1985, Vidyanand made contributions to the Bihar Regiment's 1st Battalion.

Kargil arrived on May 21 and was killed on June 9

The Bihar Regiment's first unit was stationed in Nagaland. As soon as war was declared on May 21st, the unit was sent to Kargil. After collecting geographic data for ten days, the battalion was given orders to seize the top of the Batalik sector, which is located at an elevation of 17,000 feet.


On the night of June 9, in the darkness, a squad of troops assaulted the adversaries after ascending 17000 feet in the air. Many of his friends also reached Veergati. The lifeless remains of Vidyanand Singh arrived in Patna on June 9, 1999, following his martyrdom. Birendra Singh, the son-in-law of Shaheed Vidyanand Singh, has also left the military.


In Hazaribagh, the entire family resides, and several institutions are run

Shaheed Vidyanand Singh's entire family resides in Hazaribagh. The family is made up of the martyr's wife Parvati Devi, sons Ravi and Shiv, and two daughters. When he gave his life, the entire nation grieved. In Bihar, a number of institutions, notably those in Bhojpur and Hazaribagh, are operated in Shaheed Vidyanand Singh's honour. Additionally, the trust hosts several events on Martyrs' Day and Kargil Day.
