During military training, a Japan Self-Defense Forces member opened fire, killing one person and injured two more. The alleged firing has been taken into custody.


Japanese, Reuters. In the Japanese city of Gifu, a unit of the Japanese for Self-Defense Force started firing. For carrying out the occurrence, a member of the Japan Self-Defense Force has been made detained.


He opened fire during a drill in which three participants were shot, one of them died. According to the defence ministry and public broadcaster NHK, an 18-year-old SDF member discharged a gun, wounding three other soldiers and killing one of them.

The member of the self-defense force was promptly taken into custody and did not provide any other information. Hirokazu Matsuno, the chief cabinet secretary, was informed of the occurrence. The incident took place at the SDF Shooting Range in Hino City, in the Gifu prefecture of central Japan. The accused allegedly fired eight bullets in quick succession, according to an SDF spokeswoman.


No reports of civilian casualties

One of the accused who was hurt in this shooting had reportedly served in the Japanese Self-Defense Forces for around 50 years, while another young person who was hurt had done so for roughly 20 years. He has, nevertheless, been taken into the hospital for care. According to NHK, no reports of civilian casualties have been made.
