Old Reddit discussions that users have lost can be recovered "this" way

Users have lost their discussions from before January 1, 2023 as a result of recent changes and modifications made to the flair navigation and chat.

Previously, Reddit's API modifications caused it to go black, forcing several well-known third-party apps to stop working. Reddit, however, stuck to its decisions despite the massive community protest that was organised. However, while everyone else was focused on how the demonstrations would play out, Reddit made some additional adjustments that led to the removal of many users' private conversations from the site.

The deletion of their private chat logs and messages they had sent to and received from other Redditors over the years has angered many Redditors in recent weeks. Prior to 2023, users can no longer access messages or live chats.

Every was gone.SINGLE.One Redditor said, "ONE of my Chats - 7 years of history I was saving." They said, "I recently discovered this and I am devastated." I've lost a tonne of information that was exchanged amongst Redditors that I wanted to save, contacts with Redditors I wanted to keep in touch with, information that isn't publicly accessible elsewhere (at least not via Google or the other main search engines), step-by-step technical help that I had stored for future problems, and so much more. Even the majority of the usernames of my Reddit "virtual friends" have slipped my mind, which is a shocking loss.

Messages and chat history from January 1, 2023, onward are allegedly no longer accessible. 23 days ago, Reddit published a changelog notification. A conversation and flair navigation improvement was made. The platform has explicitly stated its decision to undertake a speedy transition to the new infrastructure within the lengthy letter.

The platform has stated, "We will move chat messages sent from January 1, 2023 onward in an effort to have a seamless and speedy transition to this new infrastructure. The new policy will take effect on June 30. Update the Reddit mobile app to the most recent version from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store to continue enjoying the greatest experience using chat on mobile, including creating and sending new messages.

The remark is at least 10 paragraphs into the changelog page, after two other new announcements, and it appears that many Redditors missed it. Additionally, the notice makes no mention of the deletion of messages prior to 2023. A few Redditors have also stated prior to the June deadline, A few Redditors have also stated that, in the days leading up to the deadline of June 30, their conversations and messages disappeared from their accounts of reddit.

According to reports, the company did not provide any way for users to access their previous discussions. However, users may be able to obtain all of their communications, including those from before 2023, by making a data request at https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request while logged onto their Reddit account.
