Gyanvapi Mosque ASI Survey: On Friday two days ago, a Varanasi court granted permission to conduct an archaeological and scientific survey of the entire Gyanvapi complex, with the exception of the Vajukhana, after granting the Hindu side's request in the matter of the Maa Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi Mosque, which is close to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Varanasi. Late Sunday night, a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) arrived in Varanasi. On Monday at 7 am, this crew will begin the survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex, in accordance with the information they have received. This will involve conducting a scientific examination of the mosque's other grounds, excluding the Wajukhana.

A court in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, granted permission to conduct an archaeological and scientific survey of the entire Gyanvapi complex, with the exception of the Vajukhana, on Friday, granting the Hindu side's request in the Maa Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi Masjid case that involves the structure close to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The ASI team arrived in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, for this on Sunday and met with the Varanasi commissioner there as well. All of the Hindu side's supporters arrived at the police commissioner's home, where they proceeded to gather until late at night. The third Monday of Sawan is when the work of the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid may begin, according to the Hindu side's attorney Subhash Nandan.

Varanasi DM S Rajalingam commented on this matter by saying, "We was given confirmation from the ASI that the survey will start from tomorrow...we weren't yet told about the time...we are making every attempt to prepare in terms of security."

On August 4, 2023, the Varanasi court has requested that the ASI provide a report about its survey. The court case's subsequent hearing is also scheduled on the same day. In response to a petition asking for a scientific analysis, including carbon dating, to establish the date of the 'Shivling' purportedly discovered at the Gyanvapi mosque, the court rendered its decision.

A collection of Hindu groups petitioned for a scientific assessment to determine if the mosque was constructed on the site of a Hindu temple, and the court of AK Vishwesh upheld their request on June 21. The study would not, however, cover the blocked-off "Vazukhana," where the "Shivling" was asserted by the Hindu parties.

Notably, five women petitioned the local court in August 2021 to be allowed to regularly pray at Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal, which is located on the grounds of the mosque. The Gyanvapi Masjid complex was to be surveyed, according to an order from the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) in April 2022.
