A 58-year-old lady was killed on Saturday night at Tibbia College Society in Karol Bagh after a roof fell amid heavy rains in Delhi. 15 houses collapsed between 1 and 6 on Saturday, according to the news.




New Delhi: Yesterday, Delhi and the neighbouring areas had continuous rain. Water logging was a result of this and was widespread. The city's base station, Safdarjung, reported 126.1 mm of rain between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The amount of rain was the most for the year and the most in a single July day in 20 years.


In the meantime, reports state that a 58-year-old lady was killed when a roof at Tibbia College Society in Karol Bagh in central Delhi fell on Saturday night during torrential rains.


The Delhi Fire Services (DFS), according to Hindustan Times, stated that its control room received 15 calls from various persons telling about the fall of many structures around the city. '15 home collapse reports were received between 1 pm and 6 pm on Saturday, according to Delhi Fire Service Chief Atul Garg, in which occurrences such as damage to the dwelling section, roof, or wall were recorded. Except for the incident in which a lady died, none of them were serious. In a another event, 30 people were saved close to Tis Hazari.


30 people were reportedly saved from Saraipur DDA apartments close to Tis Hazari Court when a building piece fell at 4.42 am on Saturday, according to fire authorities. Under the condition of anonymity, a senior DFS officer stated, "A rescue team was dispatched to the site immediately after a distress call was received." The fire authorities were able to free thirty persons who were stranded at the scene.

According to the police, a PCR report of a roof failure at Tibbia College Society and a lady stuck under the rubble was sent to Karol Bagh police station around 4 o'clock. When the cops arrived, the victim had already passed away. Ranjit Kaur, 58, is the victim, according to the police. According to the victim's relatives, Ranjit stepped inside to get some personal items when a piece of the quarter fell, according to vice commissioner of Police (Central) Sanjay Kumar Sain. She became imprisoned when the other portion of the ceiling collapsed all of a sudden.


According to the police, a portion of the structure was in disrepair. The victim's kid and husband, who were there at the time of the event, are her family, the officer stated. Under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (unnatural death), legal action has been started in this case.


Under the condition of anonymity, a senior DFS officer stated that complaints of home collapse had also come in from the Alaknanda, Sadar Bazar, Kucha Patiram, Ambedkar Nagar, and Lajpat Nagar Part-1 districts. Other than the fatality in the Tibbia Colony Society on Desh Bandhu Gupta Marg, he declared, there has been no word of any loss of life or property elsewhere.
