The Centre stated at today's Supreme Court hearing on the issue of repealing Article 370 that Kashmir had entered an age of peace and growth
The Central Government repealed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019. The state was divided into two union territories as a result.
In Delhi. Today, the Supreme Court will hear many petitions contesting the Central Government's intention to repeal Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and split the state into two Union Territories. At 10.30 am, a five-judge constitution bench will hold preliminary hearings on the whole case and provide guidelines for filing documents and submitting returns.
The constitution bench will include the Supreme Court's Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and Suryakant. The Centre has submitted an affidavit to the highest court in the land describing the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir as wholly constitutional.
According to the Centre, the entire area has entered a time of peace, advancement, and prosperity as of 2019. Life there has returned to normal after nearly three decades of unrest. For the past three years, there has been no strike, and all public institutions—schools, universities, hospitals, and others—have been operating without any issues. The nearly daily bandhs, stone-pelting events, and hartals of the past are now a thing of the past.
"Broken back of the terrorism ecosystem"
The Centre further said in its affidavit that several significant actions had been taken to improve democracy as a result of the democratically enacted constitutional amendments in the state. There, the Panchayati Raj system was democratically established for the first time in history. Elections for the District Development Council were conducted there in November and December 2020. Currently, there are almost 34,000 elected officials bolstering local governments in both rural and urban areas. There, due to the implementation of national legislation like the Right to Education, the population has been disadvantaged up to this point. The whole ecology supporting terrorism is being eliminated.
"Broken back from international terrorism"
The central government has also declared that the terrorist organization's support network from outside the border has been destroyed. The common people used to suffer as a result of central laws not being implemented, which was used by separatist and anti-Indian terrorist groups to mislead the populace.
Centre asked for the petition to be dismissed
The ordinary people profited from the action on August 5 and 6, 2019, as their income rose and peace was created. The inhabitants there finally received equal rights with the rest of the nation following independence. It has been claimed that by taking this action, the locals have embraced mainstream culture and are requesting that the petition be dismissed. Allowing the petition will be detrimental to the security and sovereignty of the nation as well as the interests of the residents of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
