No one was ever treated this way. When Ashwin was forced to sit out, Gavaskar became enraged, Rahul, Rohit, and Virat wrapped everyone up

Regarding R Ashwin's decision to skip the World Test Championship finalised, Sunil Gavaskar said: "The protest against R Ashwin's decision to skip the final continues to this day." Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian captain, has once more publicly spoken his opinion on the subject and blamed captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid, and former captain Virat Kohli for not maintaining Ashwin in the starting lineup.

In Delhi. In the World Test Championship final, Australia defeated Team India by a score of 209 runs. It has been two days since this. However, neither the supporters nor the veterans from India are able to move past this setback. This defeat is a subject of ongoing discussion. There are still a lot of issues that need to be resolved. Should India have opened the batting, for example. Did Rohit-Rahul misunderstand the rules and the playing field? Apart from this, the most talked-about issue is whether India erred by skipping Ravichandran Ashwin from the WTC championship final. Many legends, from Sunil Gavaskar to Ravi Shastri, have questioned Team India's approach.

Sunil Gavaskar discussed the choice to bench Ashwin in his Mid-Day column once more, this time focusing on current captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid, and past captains Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri.

It makes no sense not to feed Ashwin. According to the ICC Test rankings, India dropped top-ranked bowler R Ashwin from the starting XI for the World Test Championship. There were 5 left-handed batters in the Australian team, and while one of them, Travis Head, got a century in the very first innings, Alex Carey produced 48 and 66 not out in the second. As India attempted to dismiss Australia early in the second innings, Carey and Mitchell Starc contributed towards a crucial 93-run partnership during this time.

Nobody was handled the way Ashwin was

He said, "Who knows what may have happened had Ashwin been on the team. He may also use the bat to help. No other top-tier Indian cricketer has ever received treatment like Ashwin has in the current age. Tell me if the team included the top-ranked batsman in the ICC rankings, and he was then benched for failing to score on a green top wicket or a spinner-assisted wicket initially. I'm confident that it doesn't occur.

Ashwin is continually dropped in England

For the sixth occasion during the Test match in England, Ashwin was not kept in the starting XI. Earlier, even during India's 2021 trip of England,

Ashwin arrives late to the bowling as well

Gavaskar continued, "In Ashwin's case, he is not usually the first spinner to be sent in to bowl, although being the No. 1 bowler in the world. The fact that right-handed batters are currently on the crease, the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, and fast bowlers' footmarks favour left-arm spinners more are possible explanations for this. This suggests that Ashwin has only ever dismissed left-handed batsmen in his career.
