 Maharashtra: Conflict incidents rose, a curfew was imposed following a fight in Amalner, Jalgaon, and a status dispute occurred in Navi Mumbai


Maharashtra Amalner Curfew: Following fighting between two groups in Amalner of Jalgaon, the city was placed under a 48-hour curfew. In Navi Mumbai, a dispute over maintaining WhatsApp status developed at the same time. 31 persons have been arrested in connection with the Amalner incident, and more than 100 cases have been filed. To find the perpetrators in both groups, police are reviewing CCTV footage.


Jalgaon. Two groups got into a brawl at Amalner, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, over a small matter. Following that, the authorities placed a 48-hour curfew on the city. In Navi Mumbai, a dispute over maintaining WhatsApp status developed at the same time. Amalner's incident happened on June 9 (a Friday) at about 10:00 p.m. when two groups got into a contentious debate about toys for kids. Following this, the disagreement turned violent as both sides began hurling bricks and stones at one another. 31 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and more than 100 complaints have been filed. After learning about the altercation, police arrived at the scene.


The shopkeeper's car was upheld on the side of the road, and there were brick fragments all over the road, as shown on the incidental video. Curfew was implemented from 11 a.m. on June 10 to 11 a.m. on June 12 in order to prevent annoyance and maintain law and order. If necessary, the curfew can be extended. Police have been stationed there while the curfew is in effect. Since the curfew was implemented, the situation is calm. So yet, no unwanted incidence has been recorded. To find the perpetrators in both groups, police are reviewing CCTV footage.


M. Rajkumar, the superintendent of police (SP) in Jalgaon, has pleaded with the populace not to believe any misinformation. According to the SP, "there was an altercation between the two groups over a trivial matter." Police arrived at the scene. We kindly ask people to disregard all claims. While Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kailas Kadlag pleaded with the residents of Amalner to observe the curfew and assist the local government.


Significantly, Maharashtra has recently seen a rise in the number of occurrences of intercommunal violence. After Kolhapur and Ahmednagar, there is currently a debate about maintaining WhatsApp status in Navi Mumbai. A Muslim teenager in Navi Mumbai had shared Afzal Khan's WhatsApp status. Hindu organisations reported this status to the police. The accused Muslim youth has been brought into prison after Navi Mumbai Police received a complaint about the incident.
