Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee, the chief leader of West Bengal, sent unique mango types from her state to Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite their political differences. Following a 12-year tradition, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, sent seasonal produce to the PMO this year as well. According to sources close to CM Mamata Banerjee, the mangoes were delivered on Wednesday night.

Four kilogrammes of several mango kinds, including Himsagar, Fazli, Langda, and Laxman Bhog, have been sent in colourful boxes to the house of the prime minister at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, according to a source cited by India Today. In a day or two, these mango cartons will arrive in New Delhi.

The source claimed that in addition to PM Modi, the best Bengal mango type had also been sent to President Draupadi Murmu and Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud. Sonia Gandhi, the chairwoman of the UPA and a member of the Congress, and Arvind Kejriwal, the mayor of Delhi, received mangoes from Mamata Banerjee last year.

Over the years, there has been a bittersweet connection between CM Banerjee and PM Modi. In 2019, Prime Minister Modi disclosed that the leader of Trinamool had sent him a kurta-pajama and treats in honour of Durga Puja.
