Guwahati. Assam, a state in northeast India, is dealing with a crisis that has gotten worse recently as a result of excessive rainfall and flooding. Because of the floods, life has been utterly disrupted in many regions of the state. In ten districts of the state of Assam, some 31,000 people are still compelled to live in the inundated area. On Tuesday, there is a significant flood issue, and administrative work is also being done in terms of relief and rescue. This information was provided by an official.


Assam will experience "very heavy" to "extremely heavy" rainfall in various districts over the course of the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has declared a "red alert" for the region. More than 15 districts are being affected by flooding.


The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of IMD in Guwahati issued a "Red Alert" for 24 hours starting on Monday, accompanied by a "Orange Alert" for the following two days, and a "Yellow Alert" for Thursday. Red Alert calls for quick action. On the other side, "Orange Alert" denotes readiness for action, while "Yellow Alert" denotes monitoring and alertness.


Over 30,700 people have been impacted by floods in the districts of Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Sonitpur, and Udalguri, says the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA)'s daily flood report. Lakhimpur, the district most severely impacted by the flooding, has seen more than 22,000 people affected.


According to the ASDMA, 444 villages in the state are currently under water, with crops covering 4,741 square miles.There have been 23 hectares lost. Additionally, there has been significant soil erosion in many districts. Landslides have been discovered at a few locations in Dima Hasao, Kamrup Mahanagar, and Karimganj as a result of the recent heavy rains.
