After the bridge over the Ganges in Bhagalpur, which had just been built at a cost of Rs 1700 crore, fell, CM Nitish issued directives for harsh action

The bridge spanning the Ganga river in Bhagalpur, Bihar, that was being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,700 crore collapsed. This bridge's four pillars have collapsed and mingled with the Ganges. On social media, the video of the bridge collapsing into the Ganges River has gone global. Identify the perpetrators of this tragedy through a thorough investigation, as instructed by CM Nitish Kumar.

Patna. The bridge over the Ganga that was being constructed in Bhagalpur, Bihar, at a price of billions of rupees, collapsed. The Aguwani Sultanganj Ganga Bridge, which connects Khagaria and Bhagalpur, has four collapsed pillars that have mingled with the Ganges. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended a significant meeting in Patna regarding this incident, in which Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister, and Pratyay Amrit, the additional chief secretary of the road construction department, also participated. Pratyay Amrit has been tasked by CM Nitish Kumar to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident and take appropriate punishment once the perpetrators have been found.

On social media, the video of the bridge collapsing into the Ganges River has gone global. 1700 crore rupees were spent on the construction of this bridge. Already, there were concerns about how it was built.

This bridge is the largest one ever constructed over the Ganges in Bhagalpur, according to the source. Many people were observed recording the unexpected collapse of the Agwani Sultanganj bridge live. Its film, which details the massive expenditure of 1700 crores and the corruption in it, is also becoming widely shared on social media. A portion of this bridge had collapsed a year before as well. It is a part of the Chief Minister's visionary project.

Approximately 200 metres of the super structure above piers 10, 11, and 12 of the bridge are said to have collapsed from the Aguani side. The cause of the bridge's structural collapsing is not yet known, though. SP Singla Company is constructing this Mahasetu.

Part of the bridge collapsed last year as well.

Let us remind you that on April 27 of the previous year, the superstructure of this bridge was likewise destroyed and dumped into the river. About a 100 foot long section had fallen to the ground during the intense storm and rain. Following this, bridge construction work resumed. This time, the superstructure's construction was around 80% complete.

Not only that, but 45 percent of the approach road construction was also finished. However, after the bridge collapsed, concerns have been raised about this project.

BJP's goal is the Nitish administration

Once the under-construction bridges connecting Khagaria to Bhagalpur got caught in the Ganges, the opposition began to criticise Nitish Kumar's work. The BJP has referred to it as a case of corruption. The BJP said that although accusations of anomalies in the bridge's construction had been made in the past, the Nitish government had taken no action. This caused the bridge to entirely collapse.

CM Nitish's big initiative is this bridge

Please mention that Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, is undertaking this ambitious endeavour. On February 23, 2014, he set the bridge's cornerstone at the Parbatta campus of MD College. On March 9, 2015, Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, broke ground for the bridge at the Sultanganj campus of Murarka College. This bridge's development will significantly cut down on the distance between North and South Bihar. In addition, this will assist the thousands of Kanwaris who travel to Deoghar each year for the Shravani Mela.

The connecting of NH 31 and NH 80 will be accomplished by building this bridge and road. To be matched are the cities of Pasraha on National Highway 31 with Munger Bhagalpur near Sultanganj on National Highway 80. This Mahasetu is around 3.160 kilometres long, while the approach road is about 25 km long overall.
