For the next two months, there will be a drinking water shortage in western Rajasthan's Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Churu, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, and Nagaur. This time, the shutdown of the canal will last for two months.

Deepak Bansal, SE for PHDE, announced that canalization in Bikaner will begin on March 26 and go through April 29. The city's citizens will continue to receive water as usual during this partial canalization; but, from April 30 to May 29, with the exception of one day, they will receive water.

The reason and for canal ban is repair.

The Indira Gandhi Canal will be blocked as part of the canal repair work beginning in several areas between Pong Dam and Jaisalmer. The canal is being restored because the water level is so low in this area. Public health engineering department representatives have urged both urban and rural residents to use water responsibly and refrain from wasting it by washing things like cars, walls, floors, etc.

If necessary, water will be maintained in private diggs.

Authorities stated that private ponds and diggs will also be used to store water if necessary, in addition to the ponds built for water storage by the Agricultural Department, CAD, and Irrigation Department.

Repairs will be made right away if any form of flaw or leak is discovered in the drinking water supply pipe lines.
