New FASTag System: Major News! Now, the more kilometres driven on an motorway or motorway, the more toll will be assessed; specifics

The new method bases toll payments on how many kilometres a vehicle travels on the route. As a result of this formula's success in European nations, plans are being made to use it in India as well. A trial project is now underway.

In Delhi. The optimism that the pricey toll will soon be eliminated has grown among drivers who are bearing the brunt of the toll tax rise that took effect on April 1. The FASTag system will be eliminated as the government gets ready to introduce a new toll collection system. You will be required to pay the same toll regardless of how many kilometres your automobile travels on the National Highway and Expressway.

This approach is used in European nations like Germany and Russia to collect tolls. The system is being prepared to be implemented in India as well due to its success in these nations.

The installation of satellite navigation systems in automobiles

Now, the cars are charged the full amount for the distance between each toll. The toll must be paid in full even if you decide not to travel there or if your journey is cut short in the middle.

The national government will now start to levy a toll fee on satellite navigation systems. The project's pilot phase is ongoing. According to this arrangement, the toll must be paid based on how far the car travelled on the roadway.

This is how toll collecting will work.

In Germany, practically all vehicles (98.8%) have satellite navigation systems. The moment a car enters a toll road, the tax calculation begins. The toll for that kilometre is subtracted from the account as soon as the vehicle transitions from an motorway to a road without a toll.

FASTag's toll deduction system is the same. Currently, 97 percent of the automobiles in India have a toll collected by Fastag.

A modification to the transport policy is also required prior to the implementation of the new system. For this, experts are gathering the essential information. 1.37 lakh automobiles from all around the nation have been involved in the experimental initiative. The study report is being put together by experts from South Korea and Russia. The release of this report could happen in the next weeks.
