Vehicle Registration Cancellation Purchase: Government's huge move! These vehicles' registrations will be cancelled; verify right away.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport has announced a change to the Motor Vehicle Act, which will make it mandatory to delete these vehicles' registrations in order to reduce pollution and support the circular economy.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport has issued a notification to alter the Motor Vehicle Act, which states that the registration of all government cars older than 15 years will be compulsorily terminated in order to reduce pollution and support the circular economy.
The registration of vehicles that have been renewed for more than 15 years will also be automatically deemed cancelled. At a licenced scrap yard, each of these out-of-date automobiles must be recycled.
All cars older than 15 years must be scrapped, including those owned by the central government, state legislatures, union territories, corporations, state transportation, PSUs (public service undertakings), and government autonomous institutions. Army vehicles are excepted from this, though. This new order will come into force from 1 April 2023.
It is interesting that the Ministry of Road Transport published a draught in November of last year in which it was stated that all vehicles owned by the Central and State Governments that were older than 15 years would need to be demolished. The buses and vehicles owned by Corporations and the Transport Department would also be subject to this law, it was claimed. The government then had 30 days to receive comments and complaints on the draught. The administration will now put this regulation into effect.
Nitin Gadkari, a Union minister, stated in November of last year that any government vehicles older than 15 years would be scrapped. The states have received the relevant policy. On the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he had signed a document stating that all vehicles owned by the Government of India that are older than 15 years shall be scrapped. All of the states have received a copy of this policy, and they should all accept it.
