On December 21, 2022, Pankaj Chaudhary, a minister of state for finance, stated in the Rajya Sabha that central employees and retirees have received numerous representations over unpaid DA Allowance/DR dues. Yet it is not thought to be realistic to release the DA (DA Allowance) or DR arrears. Arrears are still anticipated to be paid to central staff and pensions notwithstanding this.


The West Bengal government boosted the state workers' daily allowance.


On February 24, 2023, the West Bengali government enhanced the DA Allowance to state employees (Central Employees), retirees, and family pensioners at a rate of 6% of the basic pay. Starting on March 1, 2023, the DA (DA Allowance) will be increased. The higher DA Allowance will also help employees of non-profit organisations, municipal governments, and educational institutions. The state government employees, who claim that their DA is 32% lower than that of the central staff and are demanding equalisation, are not thrilled with the increased DA percentage.
