• The President said that India and Zambia share strong and cordial relations
New Delhi: A parliamentary delegation from Zambia called on President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
"A parliamentary delegation from Zambia led by Her Excellency Ms. Nellie Batete Kashumba Muti called on the President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (February 2, 2023)," the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement.
Welcoming the delegation at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said that India and Zambia enjoy strong and cordial relations.
He said, "Leaders of the Zambian independence struggle, such as Zambia's founding father and first president, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, drew inspiration from the Indian independence struggle, especially Mahatma Gandhi."
The President said that in the field of economic cooperation, our bilateral trade is continuously increasing. India is one of the leading investors in Zambia.
He said that it is a matter of satisfaction that India and Zambia share a strong development partnership, which includes India's four Lines of Credit, which are being used in critical sectors such as transport, hydro-power and health.
President Murmu urged India and Zambia to work to strengthen this partnership for prosperity and development.
The President said that the relations between the Parliaments of India and Zambia have strengthened over the past Parliamentary visits.
He appreciated the efforts of the National Assembly of Zambia to form India-Zambia Parliamentary Friendship Group. He was confident that this visit would further strengthen these bonds.
