For small value UPI transactions, Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) has introduced the UPI Lite feature. With this, it's possible to use UPI to make payments without entering a PIN. However, only transactions with a value below a certain threshold would be eligible for this.

Unified Payment Interface, or UPI, has fundamentally altered how people in India make payments. In India, UPI accounted for 52% of all digital transactions in 2022. In terms of rupees, a total of 126 lakh crore were transferred. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) thought it was time to simplify small UPI payments.

For UPI transactions with a low value, Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) has launched the UPI Lite facility. The bank claims that users will be able to complete real-time transactions faster with just one click thanks to this feature. The first Payments Bank to introduce the UPI Lite feature is PPBL.

You will no longer be able to add a lot of small transactions to your passbook.

The unique aspect of this feature is that it prevents the bank's passbook from being sent any longer because of the daily small transactions. Only the Paytm balance and history section will now display these transactions.

PIN is not required for payments under Rs. 200.

Once loaded, UPI Lite Wallet users can conduct transactions up to Rs 200 without entering a PIN, according to Paytm Payments Bank. The payment process will become quicker and simpler as a result. Two times per day, a total of Rs 2000 can be added to UPI Lite. You can only pay a maximum of Rs 4,000 using this feature per day. Currently, not all users can access this feature.
