Terror plot? 2 arrested while trying to go to Pakistan for arms training

 


Officials of Delhi Police's Special Cell on Saturday arrested two persons allegedly involved in terrorist activities from the national capital.

On 25 February, officers of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested two persons who were allegedly planning to go to Pakistan for arms training. The police statement revealed that Khalid Mubarak Khan (21), a resident of Thane West, Maharashtra and Abdullah (26), a resident of Tamil Nadu, were the two persons who were apprehended.

According to officials, both were planning to go to Pakistan for arms training. Delhi Police said the two men were receiving instructions from a handler based in Pakistan.

Two highly radicalized persons, in touch with Pakistani handlers and planning to cross the border for arms training, namely Khalid Mubarak Khan and Abdullah have been arrested by the Special Cell (NDR).

The Special Cell of Delhi Police was acting on information that some people were being radicalized through social media by handlers based in Pakistan and instructed them to undergo arms training in Pakistan before carrying out terror attacks in India They went.


According to a statement issued by the police, on February 14, 2023, it was reported that a group of radicalized individuals affiliated with a terrorist organization were planning to travel from Mumbai to Delhi to engage in illegal activities. It is also alleged that they are planning to receive terrorist training in Pakistan with the help of a handler based there. The group is said to be in possession of advanced illegal weapons and will arrive around the Ring Road, behind the Red Fort.

Police have recovered two pistols, 10 live cartridges, a knife and a wire cutter from the possession of the accused. Acting swiftly, the Special Cell of Delhi Police nabbed the accused.

In response to the incident, an FIR has been registered under sections of the Arms Act and police investigation is on. More details are yet to be released by the police.


At the Asia Economic Dialogue organized by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Minister of External Affairs (MEA) S Jaishankar stressed that terrorism was the key issue between India and Pakistan. Talking about Pakistan, he said that if terrorism is the "basic industry" of a country, it cannot prosper.

At the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 23 February, India said that Pakistan has a history of providing safe havens to terrorists. Indian consul Prateek Mathur termed Pakistan's unnecessary provocation as "regrettable".
