Stone pelting on Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express in Telangana

Miscreants again pelted stones at the Vande Bharat Express running on the Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad route in Telangana on Friday. A similar attack took place a month ago on the Vande Bharat Express of the same route.

In another incident of stone-pelting on India's high-speed train, miscreants pelted stones at the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express passing through Telangana's Mahbubabad district on Friday.

A month ago, the Vande Bharat Express running on the same route was damaged by stone-pelting by drunken miscreants at Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam. During that incident, the train's windows and mirrors were damaged in the attack.

The latest incident was reported by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). After this, investigation was started in the matter. Officials said that the damage caused to the train in the incident is yet to be assessed and will be ascertained only after the train reaches Visakhapatnam. So far reports are citing damage on a glass pane. He also informed that the attack is suspected to be the handiwork of some children.

"The (damage) assessment will be done after the train reaches Visakhapatnam," officials told PTI. Earlier, the incident of stone pelting on the train was done before its launching. Some unidentified people pelted stones at the train compartment, which shattered the window panes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat train service between Secunderabad, Telangana and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

Apart from the attacks on the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express, there have been attacks on the Vande Bharat Express in Bihar as well as Bengal. Along with frequent incidents of stone pelting at different places on Vande Bharat Express, inauguration of new routes of this train is also happening continuously. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new Vande Bharat Express from CST Terminal railway station in Mumbai. Both these trains will run between Mumbai-Sholapur and Mumbai-Sai Nagar Shirdi.
