Raahgiri Diwas 2023: Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Sunday. details here

 

Delhi Police has announced that there will be traffic restrictions on the Inner Circle of Connaught Place for three hours on Sunday morning on account of "Raahgiri Divas". Rahgir Dey is returning to Delhi after a Covid-19-induced hiatus of 3 years.

On Sunday, the streets of Connaught Place will be closed to cars, allowing citizens to participate in a range of activities including yoga, Zumba, sports, games, music and dance, as well as educational programs on topics such as road safety, walkability . and women's safety.


Pedestrian Day aims to create sustainable and safe cities with a focus on sustainable mobility. The event is being organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council in partnership with Delhi Police, Raahgiri Foundation and Sustainable Mobility Network, with Nagro as the CSR partner.

“Rahgiri Day is a way to show people experientially that roads are not just made for cars, by reclaiming our roads and using them for community leisure activities. It is a day that brings people together It inspires us to re-imagine and transform the road as a public space and as the heart of every community," an NDMC official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

A huge crowd is expected for the event and there could be traffic jams on the outer circle of Connaught Place due to the heavy vehicular load. Consequently, traffic restrictions will be in force from 6.30 am to 10 am on Sundays and no vehicular movement will be allowed on any radial road leading from Inner Circle or Outer Circle to Inner Circle, Connaught Place.

As per Delhi Police advisory, vehicles will be allowed to stop or park anywhere on Roundabout Connaught Circus and vehicles parked without earmarked parking or improperly parked on Roundabout Connaught Circle will be towed away. Will be taken

Vehicles can be parked at DLF Multilevel Parking on Baba Kharak Singh Marg or at the Outer CC Parking Lot, Connaught Place.
