'Hey, it's OK': Anil Kapoor holds stranger's hand during turbulent flight, gives him life advice


Shikha Mittal's chance encounter with Anil Kapoor during a turbulent flight is winning the internet.

The overhead bin above him opened and flapped as the plane took off. Just after take-off, the flight became turbulent. She's never been good on airplanes. In 2022, she developed a health condition that left her more troubled. The moment he put his hand on the divider between the two seats, his co-passenger grabbed his hand and said "Oh okay. Tell me your name. Let's talk."

Shikha Mittal talks about her experience with a co-passenger who comforted her during a turbulent flight and kept conversation going for the next few hours. The co-traveller was none other than Bollywood's original Mr. India, Anil Kapoor.

Kapoor will next be seen as the antagonist in the Disney+ Hotstar Indian adaptation of The Night Manager, based on the 1993 detective novel by British author John Le Carré.

As they struck up a conversation, Kapoor asked about her profession. Shikha Mittal is the founder of Be.artsy and Be Your Own Shakti and the Beartsy Foundation. She is an expert in financial literacy.


She said, during the visit, they discussed financial planning, retirement planning, money management and writing a will, while discussing films, property prices and fitness. He also talked about Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor's most talked-about on-screen partners.

When asked about his favorite film, Kapoor told him that he likes Anil Kapoor's last film Jugjag Jeeyo, which also stars Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani. After Mittal told him that he had a "novelty bias", Anil told him, "Tu haad se zindagi widhal hai (Your intelligence is on top)."

Shikha told how upset she was after Kovid-19 and vaccines. Kapoor advised him not to worry too much. "Look at me. I'm a very average person, focused on hard work. I workout for 1-2 hours, go to bed early, wake up early... That's why I stay "jhakaas" and I look your age." Shikha reminded him that he was of his father's age.

She added that she would have remained silent to protect Kapoor's privacy if she had not spoken up at the time. But during those two hours she laughed non-stop and felt as if the plane had just landed after take off, Mittal wrote.

Kapoor later told her, "Many people would say that worrying is a bad thing, but your worrying today has given us both a chance to talk and laugh and now maybe you can even buy me a coffee in Delhi." as she smiled. On the way out he hugged her and said "Shikha the Mittal bye!".
