Veteran Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Friday targeted the central government over the Adani controversy. Tharoor said all opposition parties want to come together and discuss this "very important issue".

Tharoor said, "The government does not want to discuss issues related to China, unemployment and price rise. Any issue which will embarrass the government, they do not want to discuss it."

The Thiruvananthapuram MP said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government was "blocking" the opposition's demand for a discussion on every issue, which he felt would embarrass him.

Tharoor made the allegations while criticizing the government for "not allowing" a discussion in Parliament on the Adani Group's stock route.

Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Friday due to opposition protests demanding a probe by a joint parliamentary committee into the allegation-triggered fraud in Adani group company's shares.

Tharoor said that Parliament is a place to discuss issues facing the nation so that people can "see the concerns of MPs and what MPs are focusing on".

Speaker Om Birla appealed to the members to participate in the discussion during the Question Hour, which he termed as important.

“Hon'ble Members Question Hour is very important. Today health, G20, defense and other important issues are being discussed. This is a good opportunity for all of you to discuss and debate them. Such important issues are being discussed in the House but you are not taking part in it.

However, an incredulous opposition continued its protest and sloganeering, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings till 2 pm.

Shares of Adani Group have come under pressure on bourses after US short-seller Hindenburg Research in its report last week made several allegations, including fraudulent transactions and manipulation of share prices in the Gautam Adani-led group, which denied the allegations. Is.
