 Germany is our largest trading partner in Europe: PM Modi


PM Modi said that several important agreements were reached between the business representatives accompanying the Chancellor and the business leaders of India in their meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the deep ties between India and Germany and said that the strong ties between India and Germany are based on shared democratic values of mutual interest.

Addressing a joint press meet at Hyderabad House in Delhi, Prime Minister Modi said, "The strong ties between India and Germany are based on shared democratic values and a deep understanding of each other's interests. Cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries- Pradan also has a long history of cooperation. The growing cooperation between the world's two largest democratic economies is not only beneficial to the people of both countries, but also sends a positive message in today's stress-filled world."

“Apart from being our largest trading partner in Europe, Germany is also an important source of investment in India. Today due to "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" campaign new opportunities are opening up in all sectors in India. The interest shown by Germany in these opportunities is very encouraging for us."

PM Modi said that several important agreements were reached between the business representatives accompanying the Chancellor and the business leaders of India in their meeting.

He said, "Business leaders from both the countries put forward their ideas and suggestions in several important areas such as digital transformation, fintech, IT, telecom and supply chain diversification."

Several CEOs and senior executives from major German companies, such as Siemens and SAP, are part of the business delegation.

PM Modi said that from the very beginning, India has been insisting on resolving the Ukraine crisis through dialogue and diplomacy and is ready to contribute to any peace process.

“Since the beginning of the developments in Ukraine, India has insisted on resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. India is ready to contribute to any peace process," he said while addressing the briefing.

This is Scholz's first visit to India after becoming German Chancellor in December 2021. Scholz will leave for Bengaluru on Sunday morning and leave the southern city around 5:30 pm.
