• A developer found a reference in a code snippet to a paid subscription service on Instagram.
Meta-owned Instagram is reportedly planning to introduce a paid subscription model for its users. The photo sharing and messaging app Twitter is working on paid verification services similar to Blue, according to developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi (via TechCrunch). The leakster found references to the upcoming feature in code snippets.
In a post on microblogging site Twitter, he wrote, "Instagram is working on a subscription plan that includes Blue Badge." ,
While words like paid, blue and badge can be clearly seen in this line. 'IDV' can stand for identity verification, says Palazzi.
The developer also found other references to a new type of subscription product that had not been there before. He added that the latest build of the Facebook app had the same references, as reported by TechCrunch.
However, there has been no official announcement from Instagram and until that happens, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt.
“At the moment there are only small references in the code about this, nothing visible, until I post a screenshot that can confirm my assumption, consider it just a rumor,” says Palazzi .
Earlier in January, Instagram announced a new feature for its users. Called Quiet Mode, the feature aims to help encourage users to fine-tune boundaries with friends and followers. It aims to reduce users' anxiety about spending time away from the app by silencing incoming notifications and auto-replying to direct messages (DMs).
"Teens have told us they sometimes want to take time for themselves and may be looking for more ways to focus at night, during studies and after school," the company said in a blog post. wrote in, "You can easily customize your Quiet Mode hours to fit your schedule and once the feature is turned off, we'll show you a quick summary of notifications so you don't miss what you missed." Can catch."
