The US Government has released the details for Expedited Visa for Foreign Students. The US government on Tuesday announced plans to expand premium processing to certain critical categories of green card applicants and certain categories of visas, essentially related to training foreign students.

According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), historically, Form I-129, Petition for Nonimmigrant Workers, and Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Foreign Workers provided expedited processing for the premium processing fee. does.

"We recommend expanding premium processing services, giving applicants the option of paying between $2,500 (₹2,02,496) to expedite their applications," USCIS said.

The Biden administration told the media that the expansion would begin in phases with premium processing of EB-1 and EB-2 applications for green cards.

This will be in addition to all Form I-140 petitions already filed under the E13 classification as members of an E13 multinational executive and manager classification, or occupations with advanced degree or extraordinary ability, USCIS said.

USCIS said, “In March, we will expand premium processing for certain F-1 students seeking Optional Practical Training (OPT) and F-1 students seeking STEM OPT Extensions who have Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization Application pending."

"In April, we will expand premium processing to F-1 students seeking the OPT and F-1 students seeking a STEM OPT extension filing an initial Form I-765," it added.

The USCIS has taken these decisions based on the recommendations of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), which was headed by one of its Indian American members, Ajay Jain Bhutoria, last year, news agency PTI said.

The Presidential Advisory Commission recommended, "expanding premium processing services, giving applicants the option of paying between $2,500 to expedite their applications. It is recommended that USCIS expand premium processing to additional employment-based green card applications, Extends to all work permit petitions and temporary immigration. Status extension requests, allowing applicants to pay $2,500 to have their cases decided within 45 days in a phased manner".
