• Drunk passengers arrested by Patna Police with the help of CISF after creating ruckus inside the flight

IndiGo airline on Monday filed a police complaint against two passengers who were found to be drunk and carrying liquor bottles inside the Patna-bound flight.

According to news agency ANI, the airline informed the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) before landing that two passengers were carrying liquor. Following this, the low-cost airline lodged an official complaint with the concerned authority at Bihar's Patna airport regarding alcohol being served to passengers after landing.

After creating ruckus inside the flight, Patna Police with the help of CISF arrested the drunken passengers. The arrest was made on the basis of a written complaint by the manager of Indigo.

"The passengers were stopped by the crew members for consuming alcohol and they apologized in writing for the incident. There was no commotion on board," reported news agency ANI.

The Indigo incident comes at a time when rival airline Air India is embroiled in a controversy for failing to act in time against a drunken passenger who urinated on an elderly woman.

On November 26, an inebriated male passenger urinated on a female co-passenger during an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. The woman wrote a letter to Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran informing that when she cried for help, the flight crew members did not listen to her.

Acknowledging Air India's mistake yesterday, Chandrasekaran said the airline's response should have been "much faster".

"The incident of Air India flight AI102 on November 26, 2022, has been a matter of personal anguish for me and my Air India colleagues. Air India's response should have been much quicker. We are unable to address this situation in the way failed, the way it should." has been done," he said, adding that "they will review and repair every process" to prevent or address any incidents of such an uncontrolled nature.

On Saturday, Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson issued a statement in which he said that four cabin crew and one pilot have been issued show cause notices and have been removed from the roster pending investigation. He has not given any reason for taking action against all five of them.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has arrested the culprit Shankar Mishra and investigation is on.
