Speaking to news agency ANI, Sharma said that he is stable and recovering well. He also said that Pant will remain in Max Hospital for the time being.
"He told me that he tried to avoid (his car) a pothole (when the accident happened)," Sharma told ANI.
He said, "Rishabh Pant's condition is stable and recovering well. Our BCCI doctors are in touch with the doctors here. Jai Shah (BCCI secretary) is also monitoring it. For the time being, he will be admitted here. Told me that he tried to avoid (his car) a pothole (when the accident happened)."
He also expressed concern over visitors coming to meet the Indian cricketer undergoing treatment. "Those who are going to meet Pant should avoid it as there is a possibility of infection," he told ANI over phone. This happened when actors Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher met Pant and his mother. "We met him and his mother. He is stable. Appeal people to pray for him so that he gets well soon," he told ANI.
According to Singh, "There should be no VIP movement to meet Pant and people coming to meet him should avoid it as there is a possibility of infection for Pant."
Earlier in the day, Sharma said that the wicketkeeper-batsman would be taken to Delhi for plastic surgery, if required. However, according to media reports, Pant has undergone plastic surgery of his left eyebrow.
Uttarakhand Police has also given a big statement on the accident. According to the Hindustan Times report, the police said that the wicketkeeper was not speeding and was also not under the influence of anyone.
Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said eight to ten speed cameras were monitored from the UP border to the accident site in Narsan and it was found that the cricketer did not exceed the speed limit, reports HT.
The CCTV footage of the accident that was surfacing online showed that the car driven by the cricketer was speeding. To this, Singh said that the car seemed to be speeding as it was thrown in the air after hitting the divider.
He also said that the technical team inspected the accident site but found nothing to suggest that there was over-speeding.
“If he was drunk, how could he drive 200 km from Delhi and not meet any accident for such a long distance? The doctor who gave him first aid at Roorkee Hospital also told that he is completely normal. So he was able to get himself out of the car successfully. The SSP told Hindustan Times, "No one will be able to get out of the car in an inebriated state."
According to photographs from the spot, the car was badly burnt and Pant was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Haridwar SP (Rural) Swapan Kishore told on Friday that Pant was admitted to Max Hospital in Dehradun.
Meanwhile, the condition of Rishabh Pant, who suffered a ligament tear following the horrific car accident, is yet to be ascertained but if BCCI sources are to be believed, he will be ruled out of the upcoming four-Test series against Australia.
